SO I couldn't wait until the release of Julie & Julia. I went opening night and absolutely loved the film. I also wondered if there was anyone out there in BLOG land? , an audience, a readership, and how do they find you, or do they just stumble upon you one day?
I knew upon leaving the theatre, that I loved Julie & Julia, I loved blogging, and by golly, I do love me some butter.
I need a place to vent today, as I am wrapping up LA Market Aug 7-11th, and although August markets in general are slow, they seem to be getting worse and worse. The store buyer's are discouraged and edgey, and the manufacturer's are pessimistic and down right frightened.
I am somewhere in between being inspired and nervous.
I turned on the local TV news channel last night, as they were telling a story of a long time retail store owner, who just couldn't make it any longer, as the camera panned over her rounders of clothing , marked 40% off.
The owner's daughter, watching mom, with tears in her eye's.
People's dreams are being flushed down the toilet.
AOL was telling their audience - WAIT don't shop yet, back to school discounts will deepen, the closer we gt to September- Damn you, AOL.
I want to burst out crying for all those hard working souls, that put their life into their livliehood, and simply cannot make it anymore.
Please, if I do have any reader's at all. Support your local retailer. Your mom and pop grocer, drug store, cleaner's, and specialty store.
Keep the USA a land of dreams.
